Runs on PC, Mac & Linux
Maple™ is an essential tool for researchers, teachers, and students in any mathematical or technical discipline. It lets you explore, visualize, and solve even the most complex mathematical problems, reducing errors and providing greater insight into the math. Teachers can bring complex problems to life, students can focus on concepts rather than the mechanics of solutions, and researchers can develop more-sophisticated algorithms or models.
Maple 14 is available in 3 versions -
Student
,
Teacher
(with Home Use rights), and
Institutional
.
STUDENT Bundle includes: Maple 14, Calculus & Pre-Calculus study guides, Mathematics Survival Guide.
FACULTY HOME USE Bundle includes: Maple 14, Calculus & Pre-Calculus study guides, Mathematics Survival Guide and Teacher's Manual
Features
Math Equation Editor: With Maple’s equation editor, you can express complicated mathematical problems easily using standard mathematical notation.
Intuitive, rapid problem entry
Over 25 fill-in-the-blank templates are available for common operations, including integrals, derivatives, and function definitions.
Automatic formatting for common commands: the ^ key automatically moves the cursor to the exponent position, and the / key creates a division bar and moves the cursor to the denominator.
Symbol completion allows you to quickly insert a symbol. You do not need to know the exact name; you only need to enter the first few characters of the symbol name.
Palettes are conveniently docked beside your main workspace. You can expand, collapse, remove, and reorder palettes, so frequently used ones are easily accessible.
Implicit multiplication: 3x is the same as 3•x.
Math that “looks right”
Supports multiple notations for the same concept. For example, , , and all represent the derivative of y with respect to x.
Extensive layout control: superscripts, subscripts, over, under, pre-superscripts, and pre-subscripts.
Over 1000 symbols are available.
Typesetting rules can be modified to change the display and interpretation of particular commands and symbols.
Context-Sensitive Menus: In Maple, context-sensitive menus allow you to perform mathematical operations by simply clicking the object and selecting the desired operation from the menu of choices provided.
Menus change according to the context, so only relevant choices are displayed. For example, “Determinant” appears in the menu for a matrix, while “Solve DE” appears for a differential equation.
Expressions are further analyzed to detect the variables present. These variables are added to the menus when appropriate. For example, you can specify which variable to solve for.
When you apply context-sensitive menu operations, a brief description is displayed above the arrows and equal signs leading to the results. These descriptions provide an automatically generated record of your actions.
Automatically generated text can be deleted or modified.
In addition to mathematical operations, context-sensitive menus make it easy to modify plot options, customize embedded components, adjust table properties, and perform other actions in Maple.
Symbolic and Numeric Math: The Maple computation engine combines high-performance numeric computations with world-leading symbolic capabilities. Maple’s hybrid system provides many advantages:
Maple allows you to work with exact quantities such as fractions, radicals, and symbols, eliminating accumulated round-off errors.
Approximations can be computed at any precision that is required, and are not restricted by hardware limitations.
You can choose from a variety of approximate and exact techniques, as best suits your needs.
Maple allows you to defer numeric approximations until they are needed, using symbolic parameters in your problem instead. The parameters are then carried through each stage in your analysis, making it easy to do parameter sweeps, optimize values, and study the behavior of the system.
Symbolic computations allow you to obtain highly accurate results, eliminate the need to simplify problems by hand, and provide insight into your problem structure from which you can develop conjectures and conclusions about the behavior.
Internally, Maple’s solvers can also use a combination of symbolic and numeric techniques, allowing it to solve problems for which either approach alone would be insufficient.
Comprehensive Mathematics: Maple contains comprehensive, in-depth coverage of a vast range of mathematical topics.
Over 4000 mathematical functions providing numeric and symbolic solutions
Virtually every area of mathematics covered, including: calculus, integral and discrete transforms, linear algebra, statistics, signal processing, graph theory, differential geometry, linear programming, combinatorics, optimization, physics, and more
The world’s most advanced solvers for ODEs, PDEs, and high-index DAEs
Highly efficient numeric solvers, supporting unlimited precision calculations
Leading-edge symbolic algorithms for equation derivation, simplification, and exact, analytic solutions
Visualization: Maple provides an extensive suite of visualization tools. Create 2-D and 3-D plots and animations interactively using the Plot Builder Assistant and context-sensitive menus. Maple also includes a large collection of commands and programming tools for plot creation and customization. These commands can be used interactively or included in Maple programs and scripts to create custom specialized plots and advanced applications.
2-D and 3-D graphs and animations
Over 150 plot types and options, including implicit, contour, complex, polar, vector field, conformal, density, ODE, PDE, and statistical plots
Engineering plots, including time and frequency domain responses and root-locus and root-contour plots
Wide variety of coordinate systems
Comprehensive Plotting Guide to plot types and options
Extensive customization and annotation tools
Layering of graphics and animations of different types
Standard geometric objects, regular solids, and polyhedra
Scale and pan 2-D and 3-D plots and animations
Point probe for exploring the coordinates of 2-D plots
Real-time rotation of 3-D plots
Interactive control of parameters through slider controls
Add additional curves to a graph by dragging mathematical expressions into the plot region
Plot Builder Assistant for point-and-click creation and customization of many kinds of plots and animations

MapleCloud Document Exchange:
Easy access to the MapleCloud gives you a revolutionary way to share work with colleagues and students. Maple 14 provides a single integrated environment for creating, distributing, and receiving technical documents through the MapleCloud Document Exchange. Access to the MapleCloud is seamlessly integrated into the Maple environment. You can easily and instantly share your work among a group of colleagues, with your class, or with Maple users worldwide, without the need for separate tools or cumbersome uploading and downloading.
Shared documents are available instantly when you start Maple.
New documents can be shared with a click of a button.
Content can be made available to all Maple users or only to members of a particular group.
Anyone can join, create, and manage groups within the Maple environment.
When creating a group, you can control the visibility of the group, group membership, and the visibility of shared documents. For instance, an instructor can create a private group for students in a particular course, and set the permissions so that the instructor’s submissions can be seen by the entire class, but student submissions can be seen only by the instructor.
Each Maple user has access to private space on the MapleCloud server. This space can be used to store Maple documents in a central location, so that they are immediately accessible to the owner from any computer with Maple 14 installed.
Document descriptions can be translated on demand using Google™ Translate.
Security settings can be adjusted separately for MapleCloud content
Entire documents or selections can be shared.
Documents are automatically compressed for fast uploading and downloading.
